Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures

While many individuals make use of technical surveillance for the purposes of solving, or busting crimes, there are those who use it to leak information to interested parties for a price. Whether the person places bugs on his body, or wires himself up for live transmission, technical surveillance is most often quite hard to detect. This is the primary reason the United States Department of Defense has invented a set of methods they call Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures, or TSCM. There are Private Investigation firms that are experts in this field.

TSCM consists of a series of tests that are run around a given complex to determine whether it has been compromised. Companies can enlist Private Investigation firms for a check-up if they feel that their privacy is being invaded. There are a few methods that are generally used to determine different kinds of surveillance equipment. A live wire transmitter uses radio waves to send and receive information; although the process of intercepting radio waves is simple, the receivers tend to be a little on the expensive side.

However, if you don’t want your privacy invaded, no price is too high to pay. Bugs, on the other hand, are a little harder to track, since they do not emit radio waves. Very sensitive magnetic field detectors or infrared cameras may be used to detect their signal, depending on the convictions of the originating party. TSCM may be in order if after having all your other measures fail; your convictions simply won’t budge.   A good Private Investigation firm can provide you with this service.

Skorpion Investigations, Inc provides expert technical, analytical and research capability for the detection and isolation of eavesdropping devices, technical surveillance penetrations and other corporate espionage techniques used in intelligence gathering by hostile sources.

Skorpion Investigations uses a variety of state of the art equipment for detecting hidden listening devices, wireless microphones, telephone taps and other technical surveillance devices.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no way of telling that a facility is under technical surveillance unless a device is physically seen. A properly bugged or tapped telephone will not hiss, crack or make a clicking sound. Nor will they echo or have static. Line voltage is also not a tell tale sign as new devices will not interfere with line voltage.
